Once downloaded, the ISOmDB executable and it's initialization file can be placed in any folder on your local computer.
Once the required database connections are defined, double click on ISOmDB EXE file
The database connection parameters are stored in isomdb_config.ini file
After purchasing a license you will receive an email with a license key which must be copied to the isomdb_config.ini file. In addition you must use the menu items to Activate and Deactivate the license on each computer. ISOmDB PRO can be installed on as many computers as needed. The Activation step is used to manage the number of concurrently active instances.
Click on the Create Snapshot button
Click on the 'New Folder' button the create a target folder for the snapshot.
Name the target folder using identifiers that will help in the comparison steps that follow.
When the snapshot process is complete the database connection is closed.
Open source tools can be used to compare snapshots which typically contain thousands of individual files detailing the database and application configuration.
A scan of thousands of files representing millions of details can be conducted in just minutes. A typical snapshot is created from between five and eight hundred queries and will range in size from twenty to forty megabytes. Database column configuration and application configuration records from hundreds of tables can easily be checked line by line for both alignment and differences.
Application configuration scripts, routines and formulae can easily be checked line by line for alignment across environments during release deployments or when troubleshooting.
